Eurya chinensis



Evergreen tree, 2.5m tall, it is in leaf all year, flower in May. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs).

The plant prefers light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and requires well-drained soil. The plant prefers acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It requires moist soil.

The leaves are used as a tea substitute or to adulterate China tea and the its Wood - soft, close grained. Used mainly as a fuel.
